*Probiotics*- theory of dysbiosis explaining autism has got its own competitors of different probiotics spoiling it's meaning. I don't agree with it. But I do recommend daily some amount of probiotic use which is not a commercial preparation in the form of curds or ghee. It has nothing much to do with autism or synapses. I have seen it doesn't work that way. ***********************
Digestive enzymes: often autism kids have constipation or indigestion. So they may have a role. What and which one... Needs to be individualised. Harder the diet.. more the need for it.. works like say drainex for sinks... But needs to be tackled with a holistic way.
Eye contact behavioural issues lack of energy . Lethargy.. all is not related to vitamins or diet in autism. It is related to many other things that decide alertness of brain from thyroid to iron to hormones to adrenaline dopamine neurotransmitters .. etc all can be tackled by a good plan of investigation medicines and therapy.
************* Random use of multivitamins probiotics or enzymes without understanding the goal of what when how much how long and why.. goes waste, as use of such supplements in normal kids and normal doses may not be same as in autism.
********** Licking the plate, if it's too annoying, is a sensory or obsession issue. It can be tackled with medicines and therapy both. Ask a sensory profile with OT in group. It's not that difficult to settle.
What is more important is to get child into socialisation, communication, and responsible behaviour. This surely can't be neglected alongwith.
